Health, Safety & Participation Agreement

One agreement for everyone who trains at ORE: members, tasters, drop-ins, visitors and event entrants. You agree to it when you book a free taster on this website, and in TeamUp when you join or book.

1. About this agreement

ORE CrossFit is run by Wrekin Barbell Limited, a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee (company number 11826813), Unit E5, Halesfield 5, Telford TF7 4QJ. In this agreement "ORE", "we" and "us" mean Wrekin Barbell Limited and its coaches. "You" means the person training, or the parent or guardian agreeing for someone under 18.

It covers everything you do with us, on site and off, including without limitation: CrossFit, HYBRID, LIFT, Kickstart, Open Gym, free tasters, drop-ins, workshops, competitions and events, including runs outside the building.

Please read it before your first session. It is written to be clear, not to catch you out. If anything is unclear, ask a coach or email us on orecrossfit@gmail.com.

2. Health declaration

Most people answer No to everything below and can start straight away. A Yes rarely means you can't train. It means a coach talks to you before your first session and adapts things for you. If you're unsure, choose Yes.

Coming for a free taster? The same applies to you. Answer the question when you book, mention anything on the list however minor it seems, and tell your coach when you arrive if anything has changed since.

Do any of these apply to you right now?

  1. A heart condition, or a doctor has said you should only exercise with medical supervision.
  2. Chest pain, at rest or during exercise.
  3. Fainting, blackouts or dizziness that made you lose your balance in the last 12 months.
  4. A concussion or head injury in the last 3 months.
  5. An ongoing condition such as high blood pressure, diabetes, epilepsy, asthma or a neurological condition.
  6. Prescription medication that affects your heart rate, blood pressure, balance or blood sugar.
  7. An injury, operation or bone, joint or muscle problem that exercise could make worse.
  8. You are pregnant, or have had a baby in the last 12 months.
  9. Any other reason you think exercise may not be safe for you right now.

What happens next. If you answer Yes, tell us about it by email to orecrossfit@gmail.com. A coach will chat with you before your first session. Occasionally we may ask you to check with your GP or physio before starting or progressing. Everything you tell us stays private (section 10).

If things change. Tell a coach before your next session about any new injury, illness, pregnancy or change in medication. Don't train if you feel unwell, or for 48 hours after a fever.

3. Emergencies

We ask everyone, including tasters and drop-ins, for an emergency contact when they book or join. We only use it if you're hurt or taken ill.

If you're injured or unwell at ORE, you agree that our coaches may give first aid and call 999 if they think it's needed. We'll always tell you, or your emergency contact, what we've done. There is a defibrillator (AED) on site, by the entrance door to the gym area.

4. Training safely

Exercise is good for you, but it carries some risk, even with good coaching. Most problems are minor: sore muscles, a strain, a blister or a bump. Serious injury, a heart problem or, very rarely, death can happen, sometimes from a condition nobody knew about.

The main risks, and how we reduce them:

RiskWhat helps
Doing too much too soonEvery workout is scaled to you. Lighter, fewer and slower is always allowed.
Severe muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis)A general risk of overdoing any kind of exercise, not something specific to CrossFit, and more likely after a break. Build up gradually. If you get extreme muscle pain or swelling, or dark urine, get medical help that day.
Heavy lifts, barbells and kettlebellsCoached technique, safe spacing, and only lifting what you can control.
Overheating and dehydrationBring water, drink regularly and tell a coach if you feel dizzy or sick.
Running outside (HYBRID and some classes) on Halesfield roads, pavements and car parksWatch for traffic and uneven ground, use the agreed route, and wear something visible after dark.
Pregnancy and returning after birthTell your coach, and follow your midwife or GP's advice.
Returning after an injury or operationTake it easy and be guided by your physio or doctor. If you train against their advice, you do so at your own risk.
A doctor has advised you not to exerciseGet your doctor's clearance before you train. If you train without it, you do so at your own risk.

You can stop or sit out any part of a session at any time, and no one will mind.

5. Your commitments and ours

You agree to:

  • answer the health declaration honestly and keep us updated
  • follow your coach's coaching cues and directions, including scaling, and the safety briefing
  • work within your limits, and stop if you feel pain, dizziness or anything unusual
  • check equipment before using it, and report anything damaged
  • keep your space clear, and never drop empty bars or kettlebells
  • clear away your own equipment, and leave the gym better than you found it

We agree to:

  • run every class with a qualified coach, who will adapt workouts for you
  • check and maintain our equipment, and take faulty kit out of use
  • hold suitable public liability insurance
  • keep a first aid kit and a defibrillator on site
  • treat your personal information carefully (section 10)

6. Liability, insurance and belongings

You take part understanding the risks in section 4, which can happen even when everyone does the right thing. We aren't liable for injury, illness or loss that isn't caused by our negligence or by us breaking this agreement.

Nothing in this agreement limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Your legal rights are not affected.

Please keep valuables to a minimum. We aren't responsible for belongings lost, stolen or damaged at ORE or in the car park, unless this is caused by our negligence.

7. Under-18s

A parent or guardian must complete this agreement, including the health declaration, for anyone under 18. By doing so they confirm they have parental responsibility and accept it on the young person's behalf.

  • Ages 11 to 15: youth sessions only, or adult classes with a parent or guardian training in the same class
  • Ages 16 and 17: adult classes with parental agreement
  • Under 11: as part of CrossFit Kids or parent and child classes, or otherwise only with specific agreement from the coaching team

Parents must be contactable while their child trains, and collect them promptly afterwards.

8. Community standards

ORE is for everyone, whatever your age, size, background, ability or experience. We expect everyone to:

  • be kind, encouraging and respectful, and remember everyone started somewhere
  • never harass, bully, discriminate against or intimidate anyone, in person or online
  • speak up, to a coach or by message, if something feels unsafe or wrong
  • look after the gym and the kit, and leave it better than you found it

Coaches can ask anyone to scale, change a movement or sit out if they think it's unsafe. We may suspend or end someone's access to ORE if they put others at risk or break these standards, after talking to them first wherever possible. Concerns about the welfare of a child or vulnerable adult go to Charlie, our safeguarding lead, or any coach.

9. Photos and video

We sometimes take photos and video in classes and at events for our website and social media. We never name you without asking, and we never use photos of under-18s without a parent's permission.

If you'd rather not appear, please tell whoever is taking photos or video at the time, or your coach, and we'll keep you out of shot. You can ask us to remove a photo of you at any time.

10. Your data and changes to this agreement

We use your health declaration and emergency contact only to keep you safe while you train. Health information is special category data under UK data protection law, so we only collect it with your explicit consent, which you give by agreeing to this. Only ORE's coaches and the people who manage bookings can see it. We never sell it, share it for marketing, or pass it on, except to emergency services if you need help.

We only keep it for as long as we need it, and will delete it if you ask. You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing orecrossfit@gmail.com. Our privacy policy has the full details.

If we update this agreement, we'll tell members and ask you to agree to the new version. The version you agreed to, and when, is kept on your record.

Declaration. I have read and agree to this agreement, my answers are true, and I consent to ORE using my health information to keep me safe. If I am completing this for someone under 18, I am their parent or guardian and agree on their behalf.

Version 2, 25 October 2026.
